HIPPO- Species Spotlight
The hippopotamus is simply awesome to see in person. It truly humbles you to be near such a giant. The two species of hippo still remaining are the Eastern African hippo and the pygmy hippo (not in this video.) There are only an estimated 125000 to 150000 hippos left throughout Sub-Saharan Africa. They are threatened by illegal poaching, and by habitat loss and hippos are legally culled (killed) by some governments and their meat and ivory teeth are sold. They are also hunted by trophy …

xx Great video! I never knew they lived in such large groups! And no matter how many photos or videos u see of hippos u really can’t see how big they are untill u see one with ur own eyes! I saw them at dublin zoo about 5 years ago and was amazed at how big they were! Their huge! I’m going there again in 4 days and i can’t wait! Thanx 4 sharing. xx
